Executive Summary

Built in 1987, the La Pryor Elementary 200 Wing facility is in fair condition and is in need of maintenance and repair of various building components. Possible foundation movement was observed and should be investigated and repaired. HVAC equipment at the end of useful life expectancy should be replaced. Building mechanical systems 30 years of age or older should be closely inspected and repaired or replaced per report. Safety and security upgrades are needed for the facility. In addition, updating classroom lighting and finishes would improve the educational environment. District staff reported that the shared restroom facilities between classrooms does not meet the needs. A block of group restrooms would better meet the needs of the district. In all the facility is in fair condition and with maintenance should continue to serve the district. However, with the amount of work required to bring the facility to a like new condition, the district should consider constructing a new elementary facility.
