Executive Summary

Built in 1949 (with an addition and renovation to the cafeteria building in 2016), the North Avenue Intermediate School cafeteria and 300 buildings are in good-to-fair condition, but are in need of maintenance and repair of various building components. Older HVAC system components need to be scheduled for replacement. In addition, numerous security improvements should be installed. In all, the interiors of the facilities are generally in good-to-fair condition and provide an educational environment that is generally favorable to learning; however, the multi-building campus layout is not conducive to modern learning strategies. With adequate maintenance, these buildings should continue to serve the district for an additional 10-20 years. Due to age of the facilities, substantial renovation of these buildings may not be economically sound; the district should begin planning replacement of these facilities.
