Executive Summary

The LT Cook Gym and Junior High Field House were built on the main campus of Breckenridge ISD in 1969. This facility occupies the Main Campus along with the High School built in 1967, Junior High School built 1969, Cafeteria with Home Economics and Life skills 1957, Vocational and Band Hall 1957, Practice Gym 1957, VOE Classrooms 1979, Ag Shop and Classrooms 1985, the Buckeroo Stadium, Auditorium 1988, and the Athletic and Arts Facility in 2008. The Main campus is 10.76 acres in size. LT Cook Gym is in fair condition overall needing maintenance and updates to re-sealing the building envelop, refreshing interior and exterior finish surfaces. The metal roofing over the wood court has some oxidation and surface discoloring indicating it may have been installed before 2017 as indicated. Any roofing system over a wood sport court should be closely monitored to avoid water damage to the wooden court. The 2017 single ply roofing visually appears to be in good condition although there a few stained ceilings indicating there could be leaks needing to be repaired. Additionally, refreshing of the interior finished surfaces, updating door hardware for ADA compliance, replacing damaged exterior doors, and updating technology is recommended. District should review and consider Safety & Security Recommendations on the Facility Details page. In all, the interior of the facility supports the campus educational environment. With updates, repairs, and proper maintenance this facility could continue to serve the district for an additional 25-30 years.
