Breckenridge Main Campus - Vocational and Band

Facility Scorecard
Executive Summary
The Breckenridge Vocational and Band Hall buildings were built in 1957. This facility is located on the Main Campus along with the High School built in 1967, Junior High School built 1969, Practice Gym, Cafeteria with Home Economics and Life skills 1957, Cook Gym 1969, VOE Classrooms 1978, Ag Shop and Classrooms 1985, the Buckeroo Stadium, Auditorium 1988, and the Athletic and Arts Facility in 2008. The Main campus is 10.76 acres in size. The Vocational and Band Hall building itself is in fair condition overall for a building of its age. This facility appears to be a composite of two may be three structures with a single roof now covering the area. The original Band Hall area is in desperate need of updating and refreshing of all the finished surfaces and would seem small considering it serves both the Junior High and High School. The additional area for the Band Hall is more suited for storage than instructional space for band and should be appropriately renovated if intended for instruction. Cosmetology is housed in what appears to have been a shop area and like band could benefit for renovation to better align with instruction. Re-sealing the building envelope, repairing and re-sealing exterior walls are important to maintaining the interior structure and indoor air quality. There is some cracking in masonry walls needing repair and observation. The HVAC systems are mostly up to date with respect to the age of equipment. Additionally, updating window systems along with refreshing finished surfaces, updating door hardware, and technology is recommended. Consideration should be given to remodeling the Vocational and Band Hall facility to provide efficient effective use of existing space. District should review and consider Safety & Security Recommendations on the Facility Details page. In all, the interior of the facility provides an educational environment that is conducive to learning. With updates, substantial renovations, and proper maintenance this facility could continue to serve the district for an additional 25-30 years.
